And since it's a Your Turn day, I'd like to know: which genres do you read? Do you tend to stay in one genre or sub-set of genres, or do you read a wide variety?
Here are some options to choose from, but feel free to add ones I've missed! Do you like to read:
A. Fantasy
B. Science Fiction/Dystopian/Steampunk
C. Historical Fiction
D. Contemporary
E. Romance
F. Mystery
G. Horror
H. Non-Fiction
I lean towards fantasy (no surprise there!), but I enjoy dystopian and historical romance as well, and I used to read a lot of mysteries. I can't wait to find out what all of you prefer to read!
See you next time!
Laurie
Definitely no horror here, but I love reading fantasy and dystopian. I haven't read any steampunk yet and think I enjoy science fiction. However, I really would like to read more space opera this year. Seems like it's growing and I can't recall any books I have read in that genre. I use to read a lot of mysteries as well as historical romance.
ReplyDeleteOoh, if you find any good space opera let me know! I don't read any horror, either - definitely not my thing. It sounds like we have very similar tastes in books...though I can't say I'm surprised :) Thanks for commenting, Laura!
DeleteA and B are where I tend to make my home when reading, though I also like "feel good" type stories such as "Where the Red Fern Grows" and meta-fiction like Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, Jenelle! I'm a fan of feel-good type stories, too :) I'm not familiar with Jasper Fforde, I'll have to look him up!
DeleteI'm kind of all over the map, though like Laura commented above I don't read horror. I read fantasy, dystopian, historical fiction, and romance. (I'll also pick-up non-fiction if the author is interesting). So many books, so little time! :-)
ReplyDelete"So many books, so little time!" - I couldn't agree more! I read a similar variety as you, and no horror for me either :) Thanks for commenting, Jill!
DeleteI prefer fantasy and mystery. When I was younger, I liked historical fiction as well, but I don't read that as often anymore. :)
ReplyDeleteI liked historical fiction when I was younger, too! And yay for mystery and especially fantasy :) Thanks for your comment, Spruce!
