Today we get to share the final post in the Book Lovers Blog Hop! I hope you've been having as much fun with this blog hop as we have, but if you missed the earlier posts you can find the full schedule below.
So rather than discuss a particular book or series like I typically would for a What We're Reading post, we're going to talk readathons! Here's the specific question bloggers answered:
Do you take part in readathons? Why? If yes, which are your favorites?
Enjoy!
Laurie Lucking (me!) www.laurielucking.com
I love the idea of readathons, but I'll admit that I have yet to participate in one. I used to do a lot of my own personal readathons where I'd spend an entire day or weekend reading, but somehow I doubt my 3-year-old and 5-year-old would be very supportive of that idea these days :)

I love readathons! My favourite is BookTube-A-Thon. The summer version took place 24th-30th July 2017 (there’s also a smaller Christmas version ;)). The BookTube-A-Thon is a week-long readathon hosted by Ariel Bissett. The first BookTube-A-Thon took place in 2013, co-hosted by Raeleen Lemay, and is now in its fifth year! It is the largest readathon on YouTube and an opportunity for the BookTube community to come together to celebrate reading. As well as all the reading that happens, there’s also daily challenges to do which are loads of fun. It’s a great way for connecting with other readers. There is now an official website for it at https://www.booktubeathon.com/. I also took part in the 24hourathon on 21st July this year. I keep meaning to take part in the BBibliothon too but this year it was from 23rd - 29th July and so crossed over with BookTube-A-Thon.

I love readathons and have watched a lot of BookTubers talk about them, but I have never participated in any myself. It is a goal - sometime in the future when I have more time, but at this moment… I’ll just continue watching others as they take on their own readathons.

This will sound like sacrilege, but I don’t read as much as I used to. When I was growing up, I was a voracious reader; now, I’m always busy, and it seems I can read or I can write. I’m working to rectify that and bring more reading into my life again. Readathons, however, are not something I’m interested in.
Jebraun Clifford www.jebraunclifford.com
I have never even heard of a readathon! What a fun idea! I’m reading all the time anyway, so I will have to check out readathons to get more information about them. It wounds like something I would really enjoy.

I’ve seen those notifications on Goodreads and such, that encourage reading a set number of books, but the truth is, I never know how many books I’m going to read from one month to the next. My policy has always been “Read as much as possible”!
Belinda Bekkers www.BelindaBekkers.com
I haven’t participated in a readathon since primary (grade) school. I think it’s something I should try to implement during university holidays.

With Karina here, I don’t have as much time to read as I used to. I’ve also not come across any readathons besides the Goodreads ones. I think it would be fun to read the same book with a group of people. As far as the Goodreads “read a set number of books a month” type things- nope, wouldn’t do them. My brain looks at that goal and plots a million ways to make me fail.
How about you? Have you participated in any readathons? Are there any you'd like to try?
Thanks for reading!
Laurie
